Rachel and Angus’ romantic bubble bursts as they suffer at the hands of public outrage over their relationship. Feeling unsupported by her friends, Rachel’s love for Angus becomes unshakeable. However, a rock through Angus’ window shatters her illusion and puts her strength to the test.
Karl is dismayed that Susan allowed Angus back into Rachel’s life and worse, into their home. Karl questions his wife’s judgement and a fed-up Rachel leaves to live with Angus in his humble flat. The rift widens between Karl and Susan as unresolved baggage about their previous relationships are dredged up. Gutted, Zeke sneaks out to ask Rachel to return for the sake of the family unity. Rachel does so, creating temporary peace. When Karl finds Angus bailing out on Rachel he tries to persuade him to stay, however he fails and Angus deserts her for her own good. Rachel is devastated and lashes out at Ty who tries to support her.

Rachel cuts Angus loose in a soul-baring video message that communicates how strong and mature she really is, but just when things are starting to get back on track, he returns.

Oliver and Carmella bond over caring for Chloe, and the warmth between them results in a charged moment where they release their suppressed feelings for each other. While Oliver is confused by the complexity of their situation, Carmella realises it’s possible to love and grieve at the same time.

When Rebecca finds out that Oliver has become close to Carmella, she confronts Oliver with the truth about Carmella’s fragility. This forces Oliver to tell Carmella how he feels about her, which Carmella reciprocates in like.

Oliver has received an exciting job offer that will take him to New York City. A shocked Rebecca learns from Oliver that he plans to take Carmella and Chloe with him. However, Carmella isn’t over the death of Marco just yet and Oliver is left having to decide whether to stay in Erinsborough or go with his dream job overseas. He finally makes the decision he believes is right for both him and Carmella and leaves Erinsborough without Carmella and Chloe.

Declan’s jealousy is tested when Bridget’s old flame Josh returns to her life. Josh’s presence provides welcome relief for Bridget from her family dramas, and she inadvertently sends him mixed signals. But when Declan gets the wrong idea, Bridget comes up with an (almost legal) idea to prove her love for Declan, and give him an 18th birthday present he’ll never forget.

When Josh keeps texting Bridget, Declan’s convinced that Josh wants to be more than friends with her. Bridget tries to reassure him that this isn’t the case but her gratitude to Josh leaves Declan convinced he has a rival. Bridget orders him to trust her and play fair.

Declan is overcome with self-pity when his 18th birthday unfolds in an unspectacular way. Behind the scenes a surprise birthday party is planned and Bridget has a special surprise of her own. Declan spies her meeting secretly with Josh and is heartbroken but he misreads the signs and when Bridget reveals all, Declan is struck by her love for him, now tattooed on her back.

Still hurting from her parents’ break-up, Bridget puts on a brave face for Declan’s surprise 18th birthday party.

Encouraged by Susan and Rebecca, Miranda decides to attend the party but Steve has neither forgotten nor forgiven. Struggling with his heartbreak, Steve finds solace in talking to Nicola. However, their mutual vulnerability ends in a fateful mistake and a confrontation with Miranda that could end the Parker marriage forever.

When Bridget finds out that her Dad has been playing catch and kiss at Declan’s 18th with Nicola she is furious, and feels betrayed. However, Birthday boy comes to the rescue with her favorite rescue remedy, Hummingbird Cake. The birthday boy has no sooner sorted out his girlfriend when Donna rocks up to his party with Josh as her date, followed by throngs of uninvited friends. As the night progresses, Josh keeps a jealous eye on Bridget, Ty keeps a jealous eye on Rachel, and the party gets way out of hand with nary a parent in sight.

Wanting to get on with his life, Dan pursues Libby. However, with Lucas now on the scene, who will Libby choose? Dan spots a bike he recognises outside Libby’s house. With a terrible hunch that he knows the owner of the bike, Dan goes inside and has an angry confrontation with the smooching pair. Clearly there’s something between the two that Libby has yet to find out.
