A school IQ test triggers competiveness with the teens and Declan and Zeke inadvertently make Ringo feel like a failure. A close call with Dan’s car leaves Ringo angry and when Dan gets to the bottom of his anger he discovers Ringo’s test results have hurt him deeply. Realising he stuffed up he tells Ringo to confide in someone he trusts to get some help about how he’s feeling. Ringo decides that person is Carmella, and when he gets to her place he sees her sleeping on the sofa and goes to leave, not realising the real danger she is in.

Karl and Susan struggle to overcome their marriage problems. Seeing another woman in Karl's arms has bought past wounds to the surface for Susan.  However Karl is defensive and buries his head in the sand rather than deal with the real issues surrounding his marriage.  Until Libby confronts him, telling him to get his act together and support his wife who is feeling vulnerable at the moment.   When Karl learns about Susan's new job through Paul, he realises she has made a life changing decision without his involvement, and decides to take positive steps towards repairing past damage. 

Toadie questions Karl over what is wrong with Nicola and interpretes Karl's response incorrectly.  He is certain Nicola is pregnant!  But who’s the Daddy?
