Neighbours Cast
06 Mar 2008

For the first time Neighbours fans in the UK are getting a taste of what it's like to be Australian. They might not be getting the surf, the sunshine or the shrimps on a barbie but they are suffering the pain of an entire Christmas break without Neighbours.

To ease that pain, let's start by telling you the good news. Neighbours will back on BBC1 in the UK on Monday 7th January. So that's not too long to wait to find out what Steph says to Toadie's proposal, what exactly is wrong with Susan and whether or not Ringo is going to get busted for stealing exams.

Neighbours will be back on Channel 10 in Australia on Monday 14th January. That, clearly, is far too long to have to wait to find out who survives the big end-of-year cliff-hanger. (Of which we'll say no more in case any UK fans are scared of spoilers.)

2008 is already shaping up to be an exciting year for Neighbours. News broke yesterday that Susan Bower has been appointed the new Executive Producer. Susan has worked on nearly every iconic Australian drama you could care to name (McLeod's Daughters, A Country Practice, All Saints) so it's only fitting that Neighbours get its turn.

2008 will also see Neighbours change broadcasters in the UK. The big switchover to Five will happen in early February and the channel are already preparing a whole host of extra goodies to entice viewers including exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes footage.

In the meantime fans on both sides of the globe can content themselves with the knowledge that the forum will still be buzzing with news, gossip and spoiler speculation. Just because it's Christmas, it doesn't mean Neighbours addicts have to go cold turkey!
